Understand: a resume is not a ticket for an interview, but a banknote

There is an opinion that, supposedly, a resume is a ticket for an interview. His main task is to get a call. This is a very erroneous opinion, which killed a large number of professionals. A person thinks that if he worked at Microsoft, Yandex, Google, then no matter what his resume is, it is important to indicate the place of work. Partly he is right: such a resume, of course, will interest the recruiter, but no more.

The main task of the resume is to show the true value of you as a professional. If you did not immediately show your true value, then in an interview it will be more difficult to do.

At the dawn of my recruiting youth, I many times faced with a situation where I have an excellent candidate with whom I recently conducted an interview. I understand that this is exactly what my customer needs, I send the resume to the customer, mentally losing the scenario of their future communication, hiring my candidate and the prize received. But here I sent the resume and in reply received: "Something confuses me with his resume, let's look for more." So not one award burned out until I learned how to work with a candidate before sending his resume to the customer.

The recruiter is interested in making the resume look as expensive as possible. If the recruiter works for the agency, his income depends on the income of the candidates he finds for customer vacancies. If the recruiter works for the company, then he is interested in filling vacancies with the best candidates, this gives him hope for a prize. Why am I writing about recruiters? It is the recruiter who receives the resume first, and it is he who decides what will happen to him next.

And then I’ll talk about how to increase the value of your resume at least twice.

Often this becomes a real stumbling block and even causes conflicts between candidates and recruiters. Why, they say, spend time for extra paper if everything is already described in the resume? In most cases, the questionnaire proposed by the personnel managers actually partially duplicates the resume - as a rule, it contains questions about the education of the applicant, his work experience, knowledge and skills. In addition, an experienced recruitment specialist may well appreciate you by how exactly you fill out the questionnaire. Fast or slow? Details or in general terms? For example, if the applicant was asked to answer all the questions, and he answered ...
